And that brings up another equally important question:  what is best with wine?

Good food?  Good friends?  Two worthy answers.  But what is best with wine are…stories.  When you have good friends over, and you drink good wine with good food, what do you do?  You tell stories. And not just any stories.  You tell the best stories, the old stories, the stories you have about old friends, stories from a better world.  You tell stories about how the world used to be.

I was a kid in the 70’s, grew up in the 80’s, graduated from high school in 1989, and went to college at the University of Texas at Austin in the early 90’s. I remember that world as it was.  And then suddenly, it all changed, seemingly overnight. The world today bears no resemblance to the world I grew up in.  There’s no music, no movies, no shows, no culture. It almost seems as if there’s no human connection, just obese zombies glued to their smart phones.  It’s all gone, and it’s never going to return- at least not in the way we knew it.

As sad as that is- and it IS sad- we can still create our own, smaller worlds and choose who we live with in them.  In a sense, that’s what I’m doing with this site.  Creating my own world, and inviting those who are like minded to join in, and remember with me the world as we knew it.

We’ve already got the wine part down with my Whole Bottle Reviews. Excellent wine is a “must have” part of any world I want to live in. But we need good stories to pair with good wine, and I have many hilarious stories from back when the world was real, when it was authentic, when it had culture.  So what I am going to do is tell you my stories via video on this site.  And I am also going to write them on Substack for you to read.  Some people like video, some people like to read, some people like both.
